PNW Native Collection Capstone Project is a collection of over 100 books and films across various tribes in the Pacific Northwest. The interactive map highlights Indigenous authors and one of their works on their native land.

*This project defines the Pacific Northwest as what is known as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, British Columbia, and Alaska.

We strive to make this project a collective effort. This is a space where stories, comments, and suggestions can be shared.

Land Acknowledgement

At the University of Washington, our campus is situated on the land of the Coast Salish people, the land which touches the shared waters of all tribes and bands within the Suquamish, Tulalip and Muckleshoot nations. Additionally, we would like to acknowledge the people of the Duwamish nation, who are not recognized by our federal government.

As people of these occupied territories, we have a responsibility to acknowledge the land, the ancestors who have cared for this land since time immemorial, and all our Indigenous connections today. We also have the responsibility to acknowledge the histories of dispossession and forced removal that have allowed for the growth and survival of this nation and institution.

In light of this history, we call you to make active efforts in supporting Native Nations and communities. If you live in the Seattle area, become a Real Renter at www.realrentduwamish.org.
